Vanderbilt Beautification

Project Overview

Enterprise Solutions delivered comprehensive electrical and telecommunications refeed services for Vanderbilt’s West End neighborhood as part of the Vanderbilt Beautification program, a multi-phase campus enhancement that adds over eight acres of contiguous green space and pedestrian improvements around student organization housing. The work replaced existing overhead distribution with new underground service routed directly from Vanderbilt’s main powerhouse and provided infrastructure to support three new residence projects.

Our scope included:

  • Full electrical and telecom refeed of all houses in the West End neighborhood
  • Underground utility feeds from the main powerhouse and removal of existing overhead wooden poles
  • New distribution to support adjacent dorm projects (Zeppos College and two additional residence buildings)
  • Campus pedestrian and decorative lighting: installation of 70+ decorative poles and associated controls
  • Coordination and tie-in work to sustain life-safety, critical loads, and phased transitions during construction

Project highlights and approaches:

  • Phased infrastructure sequencing to enable removal of paved parking and convert areas to green space while maintaining power continuity to occupied buildings
  • Lean pull-planning and close coordination with university stakeholders to minimize academic disruption from noise and planned outages
  • Extensive stakeholder communication and scheduling to provide advance notice to students and staff and ensure safe, phased cutovers

Enterprise Solutions’ integrated civil, electrical, and telecom execution supported Vanderbilt’s vision for expanded green space and modernized utility infrastructure while maintaining campus operations and minimizing impact to the university community.
